History

The environmental solutions business began with the founding of the former Ambitec in 1995, with partner Tercio Borlenghi Junior joining its corporate structure in 1998. In May 1996, the company expanded its activities in the logistics area with the founding of Getel Logística, expanding its operations beyond the management and recovery of waste in transport for large companies and industries throughout Brazil. Also, in 2005, Brasil Ambiental Waste Treatment Center was founded, operating in the management of waste treatment centers. In 2008, the Company was incorporated under the name of Planeta Ambiental – Central de Serviços Escolhas, whose corporate purpose was related to the emergency response business.

In September 2010, AMBIPAR Participações e Empreendimentos S/A (“AMBIPAR”) was founded, with the aim of consolidating control of all companies in the group.

In May 2011, AMBIPAR became the Company’s controlling shareholder. Subsequently, its corporate purpose was changed to shareholdings in other companies and waste management. In the same month, AMBIPAR acquired 51% of Descarte Certo, a company that operates in the reverse manufacturing division, being responsible for managing the reverse chain of post-consumer products, benefiting by-products and reinserting them all as raw material at the last end of the production chain (circular economy), generating positive impacts on the environment. In August 2017, AMBIPAR acquired the remaining 49% of Descarte Certo.

During 2019, AMBIPAR developed and implemented a “rebranding” strategy, through which it changed the names of the group’s companies, to reinforce the AMBIPAR identity, strengthening the brand and its interaction with customers, who now have an integrated perception of all group activities.

With the “rebranding”, there was also a corporate restructuring to divide AMBIPAR into two verticals, Ambipar Response and Ambipar Environmental, with all businesses related to environmental solutions (Ambitec, Descarte Certo, Resi Solution, Ecosorb and Getel Logística) passed to be consolidated in the Environmental vertical and the businesses related to emergency response started to be consolidated in the Response vertical.

In 2020, the Company also acquired Revalore, Supply, Verde Ghaia and Âmbito and, throughout 2021, AFC, Metal Ar, Centroeste, Boomera, Ecológica Nordeste (through AFC), Biofílica, Drypol and Triciclo, Suprema, SIR, Brasil Coleta, MCZ, Ecológica Resídos, WATU and Ecotec, all strategic for the development of its waste management activities. Additionally, in June 2021, it acquired DISAL, a Chilean waste management company, with a view to promoting the international expansion of its business. And for 2022, acquired Fox Comércio, Fox Indústria, Blue Ambiental, Blz Recicla, Recitotal and ViraSer. Thus, between 2020 and 2022, the Company became the consolidating holding company for the Environmental vertical companies.
